About
This blog is dedicated to OIA and LGOIMA requests for official New Zealand information.
Our goal is to document our experiences as we seek key datasets of a geographic nature held by New Zealand central and local government bodies. These datasets are paid for by the New Zealand taxpayer or ratepayer, and are of significant public interest.
Data discussed on this blog which is received under the OIA/LGOIMA will be released for free (where technically possible) on Koordinates and/or Zenbu.
OIA: The Official Information Act, which applies to the New Zealand Government, it's agencies, State Owned Enterprises, Universities, and a variety of other organisations funded by New Zealand taxpayers.
LGOIMA: The Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act, which applies to councils and their agencies.
